Camille Peugny on the polarisation of employment
Sociologist at the University of Paris 8, Camille Peugny analyses in a very detailed and quantified paper the evolution of the social structure in fifteen European countries over twenty years between 1993 and 2003.
To this end, it has reconstructed the transformations, over the period, of the various socio-professional categories (managers, intermediate professions, employees, workers, etc.) on the basis of data on national labour markets from the European Union Labour Force Survey.
As a result, a trend towards polarisation of employment is clearly visible on the Old Continent, but to very different degrees in different countries.
